Community Development Intensive
A Comprehensive Grass Roots Approach

"There are no shortcuts. Comprehensive community reformulation is the only strategy for dealing with the tragedy of our inner cities. Fragmented approaches will not do. If we are concerned with human resources, if we want human community in the inner city, if we wish to avoid the bloody violence otherwise sure to come, there is no alternative to total reform. Before we have wasted our funds and energies in patch-up efforts, we must rebuild total community."
Joseph W. Mathews, Dean of the Ecumenical Institute
Testimonty to the U. S. Senate Subcommittee on Government Research following the 1968 riots.

When people work together to meet their own changing social and economic needs, community development is successful and sustainable. For over 35 years, ICA has been implementing its "grass-roots" process in communities around the world, resulting in long - term, locally motivated change. The Community Development Intensive is a five day course which establishes the context of community development as a whole-system change. This course covers the full cycle of community based change
